elm street sportsman association

The overall idea of the "Elm Street Sportsman Association Inc" began during a conversation at a barbershop in mid 2014. A discussion started with a group concerned African American men regarding what could they do to help the youth and improve conditions in the community. A larger meeting was called to gauge interest in forming a group. After three meetings, in October 2014, the Elm Street Sportsman Association Inc. (ESSA) was formed and, with the help of a local attorney the group became 501(3) c.

In 2019 ESSA was presented a Proclamation in recognition of Outstanding Civic Service to the Community by the City of Fernandina Beach, FL

The centerpiece of ESSA is the Youth STARS (Striving To Achieve Real Success) Program. Our goal is to continue to make an impact in the lives of our youth and to enhance and grow the program. ESSA has improved and contributed to a better quality of life for hundreds of children and their families.
